Odyssey reviews
BEST VALUE
COMPLETE SYSTEM PACKAGE
$5,500
This was a rather easy selection. While there were many packaged systems with amp, speakers and sources bundled for one price, most were assembled from different brands and companies. Most didn't include cables. This display by Odyssey Audio was not only made by the same company, the whole shebang was hand-made by the same man and his family - in the USA.
Long time audio veteran and musical maverick Klaus Bunge put together two floorstanding speakers, TWO monoblock 160 watt amps, a tube preamp AND a complete set of high-quality cables for an amazing $5,500. That would be outstanding if the overall audio was merely very good, but what we heard was simply stunning, far surpassing many much more expensive systems we heard. Add to that the ability to order a system in matching or contrasting colors (order the speakers in wood if you like) and you have a truly customized, built just for you system. A system that is expertly matched and balanced with no fear of impedance mismatches or other anomalies that plague other systems that are just thrown together.
Perhaps even more amazing is that this
Odyssey system is one of the MOST expensive systems Klaus makes. He can
put others together for you starting around

Best of Show: Best Sounding Exhibits
Editors of The Absolute Sound choose the exhibits that impressed them the most. Out of 100s of rooms, Odyssey was oneof them, this is what Robert Harley said: "Finally, I was greatly impressed by the value offered in the Odyssey room. The System was $5800, complete with the Stratos 180W monoblock amplifiers ($2395 per pair), Tempest preamp ($1125) and Odyssey's floorstanding loudspeaker. The products are built to a high standard and produced a sound that was better in many ways than more expensive systems I heard at the show."
Odysseyaudio brings sound up to top 95% of rooms.New upscale amplifiers.Thick chassis like big boys. Maybe other new things. Comes in many colors. System cost close to7500 USD. Much smoother compared to last year. More details between notes, much more linear treatment of details and dynamics up and down frequency spectrum. Can still rock. Compare to Red Wine system? Maybe about same price. Odyssey more harmonic color. Notes have more punch. Note attack and decay closer to reality. Think both Red Wine system and Odyssey more linear and handle complex passages quite well compared to often more expensive competition.
